August 7, 1971 - 50 Years Ago Today: The Honey Cone had the Hot Shot Debut at No. 68 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart with their single, "Stick-Up." This Angelo Bond-General Johnson-Greg Perry-penned single was the female R&B trio's fourth chart entry and their follow-up to their No. 1 hit single, "Want Ads," which hit the top of the chart eight weeks prior. This single just missed becoming their 2nd Top Ten when it peaked at No. 11 on September 18, 1971. "Stick-Up" was also their second consecutive single to hit No. 1 on the Billboard R&B Chart where it enjoyed a two-week run at the top and was also their second consecutive single to be certified Gold.
